History of the department of Thai language
Beginning in 1967 the learning and teaching of Thai language was conducted within the language department of the faculties of science and arts. In 1981 this subsequently transferred into an institute affiliated with the faculty of humanities, and approval was received to establish the department of Thai language. On 10th October 1994, the Thai language program opened to teach Thai, both at beginner level and as a major subject in accordance with the needs of the students in the faculty at all times. Currently there are four courses as follows:
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Thai language
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in communication in Thai language for foreigners
- Master of Arts (M.A.) in Thai language.
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Thai language
Philosophy
We strive to manage the education for the development of the students proficiency in the field of Thai language, to have pride in Thai culture, and to be rational with a positive outlook in this era of globalization. We aim to uphold the identity of Thailand, to make practical use of linguistics, and to give emphasis to learning and development in order to bring knowledge into Thai society.

To be a department that builds excellence in Thai language, arts and culture to an international standard. We seek to gain recognition on an international level, and to be the backbone of the mobilization of Thai knowledge for the development of national stability.
Our Mission
To produce graduates that are skilled and proficient in the ways of Thai language and culture, for serving society in the process of effective Thai communication using all four skills, and for developing the strength in using Thai language both at home and abroad.
